Review: The Good Earth: Classic Collection

Title:  The Good Earth: Classic Collection

Series: House of Earth #1

Author: Pearl S. Buck

Published: August 1, 2007 by Blackstone Audiobooks (first published 1931)

Excerpts: Begun on simple farmer Wang Lung’s wedding day, the story follows his simple, sometimes naive, and often one sided view of the Chinese culture, times, and his connection with the land.

Quotes: “Now, five years is nothing in a man’s life except when he is very young and very old…

– Wang Lung”

― Pearl S. Buck, The Good Earth

My Review: Just finished listening to this for #ayearathon diversity challenge and I enjoyed it in the beginning but really didn’t like it in the end. After the readathon I may need to take a look at the criticism of the book to get the deeper meaning. Glad I listened to it anyway as it’s been on my tbr for a while now.

My Rating: I gave it 2 out of 5 stars on Goodreads.

Would I recommend: No, I really found this one of the most boring stories that I ever read.
